Lahore . These rescuers were recruited for the establishment of Rescue1122 in NWFP. The Government of the Punjab has extended special assistance to the Government of NWFP which is in a process to replicate this successful model of ’s first trained Emergency Medical, Rescue and Fire Service in NWFP. The Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has especially requested the Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif to assist in establishing the Rescue 1122 Service in NWFP as a gift from the people of
Punjab . Keeping in view the state of emergency in NWFP especially in Peshawar a team of Rescue 1122 from Punjab has already been dispatched to
Peshawar on loan basis to provide immediate relief and a sense of safety to the citizens of NWFP. These rescuers will be trained in life saving skills like revival of heart beat through Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, proper management of spinal injury patients, rescuers shall also be trained to provide rescue from height, search & rescue of victims trapped under collapsed structure and management of road traffic accidents, hazardous material incidents and disasters. Academy has become a centre of excellence for training of emergency paramedics and is also providing training of staff and technical assistance to other Provinces. He said that the Service is pleased to provide technical assistance/ training to other Provinces so that the people of other Provinces also have a sense of safety that in case of any accident, building collapse, explosion, fire and disaster there is a trained emergency service which shall timely come to their rescue.
