The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Resuce1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer carried out a review of the performance of Rescue1122 working in all districts of
Punjab
regarding monsoon rain emergencies. The review revealed that the Service has responded to 1142 emergencies which include building collapse incidents, electric shock emergencies, drowning incidents, road traffic accidents due to slippery roads and fall in manhole incidents. The provincial monitoring cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has established close liaison/co-ordination with the Metrological Department to ensure timely monsoon & flood forecasting for early warning.These 1142 emergences include 138 building collapse incident in all districts of Punjab which include 44 in Lahore, 01 in Rawalpindi, 28 in Faislabad, 04 in Multan, 13 in Gujranwala, 06 in Sargodha, 04 in D G Khan, 01 in Sahiwal, 04 in Sialkot, 01 in Murree, 03 in Jhang, 03 in Gujrat, 01 in Attock, 02 in Jhelum, 04 in T.T Sing, 03 Mianwali, 05 in Kasur, 02 in Okara, 01 in Hafizabad, 01 in Sheikhupura, 03 in Nankhana Sahib, 01 in Khushab, 01 in Mandi Bahoudin and 01 in Bhakkar. 18 expired and 169 injured were shifted to hospital whereas 61 were given on spot first aid by Rescue 1122. These 1142 emergences include 295 Electric Shock emergencies, which include 85 in Lahore, 11 in Rawalpindi, 13 in Faislabad, 64 in Multan, 17 in Gujranwala, 01 in Sargodha, 27 in DG khan, 10 in Sialkot, 13 in Jhang, 09 in Khanewal, 09 in Rajanpur, 03 in Gujrat, 02 in Attock, 03 in T.T Sing, 05 Mian Walli, 15 in Kasur, 01 in Pakpattan, 01 in Hafizabad, 01 in Nankhana Sahib, 01 in Narowal and 04 in Bhakkar. 37 expired and 191 injured shifted to hospitals by Rescue 1122, whereas 58 patients were given first aid. 86 drowning incidents were responded which include 27 in Lahore, 05 in Rawalpindi, 15 in Multan, 01 in Sargodha, 05 in DG khan, 14 in Sialkot, 01 in Murree, 02 in Jhang, 03 in Rajanpur, 06 in Gujrat, 02 in Attock, 01 in Jhelum, 01 in Mian Walli and 03 in Kasur. 53 dead bodies and 24 injured were fished out and shifted to hospitals, while 21 were given first aid on spot Rescue 1122. Road Traffic Accident increased due to slippery roads increased during monsoon rains and over 614 road traffic accident emergencies were responded which include 109 in Lahore, 30 in Rawalpindi, 32 in Faislabad, 132 in Multan, 38 in Gujranwala, 25 in Sargodha, 42 in DG khan, 35 in Sialkot, 07 in Murree, 40 in Jhang, 37 in Khanewal, 04 in Muzaffarghar, 10 in Jhelum, 04 in T.T Sing, 20 Mian Walli, 22 in Kasur, 05 in Pakpattan, 07 in Chakwal, 01 in Okara, 02 in Sheikhpura, 04 in Nankhana Sahib, 01 in Khushab, 01 in Mandi Bahoudin, 08 in Narowal and 02 in Bhakkar. 1 expired and 357 injured were shifted to the hospital by Rescue 1122 whereas 356 were given first aid. 09 emergencies of fall in manhole recorded which include 02 in Rawalpindi, 01 in Sargodha, 01 in D.G Khan, 03 in Sialkot, 01 in Jhang, 01 in Jhelum. 01 expired & 8 injured were shifted to hospitals by Rescue 1122. Dr Rizwan Naseer said that although Rescue 1122 is just a call away in case of any emergency however it is better to prevent these emergencies from happening. He advised citizens to avoid any contact to electric poles/wires during rains and to timely cover manholes before it takes any other life.
